-an early warning for next year-cuz, well it’s too late for this year…hope you’re ok…
My long winter’s nap is over. It is hard to shake off the lethargy of hibernation in the dark of winter. But we have experienced the turning axis once more and are in Spring mode. I need a reboot. For me, that means a quad shot grande Americano to-go…possibly with a nutritional supplement, like Kahlua. To each her/his own…
So…March already… By the time this newsletter is published we have already saddled up and are aboard the new year. I have learned to not waste time with resolutions. We all know how that exercise pans out. Especially if it involves actual exercise…
Because of my delayed awakening, we have missed some of this year’s specific days of celebration. No worries. Celebrate all month, or better yet, all year! Catching up with the calendar…

It’s time to get this party started. We are in the Chinese year of The Fire Horse. It only comes around every 60 years, and while I feel pretty good these days, I’m a realist – I will not see this again. Not gonna make it to 140 and that’s okay, really okay.

The Year of the Fire Horse began February 17, and will run until February 5, 2027. It is a period of extreme intensity, rapid change, and high-stakes energy, combining the Horse’s natural independence and speed with the Fire element’s passion and volatility, we experience the “double fire” effect.
Other celebrations of note…
March 8 – International Women’s Day…The main theme for International Women’s Day (IWD) 2026 is “Give to Gain,” focusing on generosity, collaboration, and mutual support for women’s empowerment, while the parallel United Nations (UN) theme is “Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls,” highlighting urgent action to close justice gaps and advance gender equality. Both themes encourage tangible actions like sharing knowledge, resources, and advocacy to achieve collective progress, emphasizing that empowering women benefits everyone.

March 14 – Pi Day, the day of celebration of the mathematical constant π is observed on March 14, since 3, 1, and 4 are the first three significant figures of π, Pi Day was founded in 1988 by Larry Shaw, an employee of a science museum in San Francisco, the Exploratorium.

AND THEN! One of my and Nigel’s all time favorites – World Sleep Day! Sleep is important for a number of brain functions, including how nerve cells (neurons) communicate with each other. In fact, your brain and body stay remarkably active while you sleep. Recent findings suggest that sleep plays a housekeeping role that removes toxins in your brain that build up while you are awake. March 15 – The warning, Beware the Ides of March, is believed to have been uttered on March 15, 44 BC, after Roman leader Julius Caesar was assassinated by a group of senators during a Roman Senate meeting (and I thought our Congress was out of control.) The quote comes to us via Shakespeare’s tragedy, Julius Caesar, (1599) as a soothsayer warns him that his life is in danger and he should probably work from home…maybe just call it in when March 15th rolls around.

March 20 – 2026 Vernal Equinox…In Latin, Vernal means of, in, or appropriate to Spring, and Equinox means “equal night.” During an equinox, the sun is positioned directly above the equator, meaning daylight and darkness are equally balanced – 12 hours of sunlight and darkness. But that’s not true for everyone…

March 25 – Less than a week away! The San Francisco Giants and New York Yankees will begin the 2026 season Wednesday, March 25, with an 8:05 p.m. ET match up broadcast exclusively on Netflix…click the speeding ball for info…

And, don’t forget, March is
National Nutrition Month!
